Known by interior designers, fashion designers and fine furniture makers worldwide, ikat fabrics are sumptuous additions to any home or wardrobe. Handmade by Uzbek craftsmen using the same techniques pioneered in the 19th century, ikat fabrics remain the perfect unity of luxury and comfort. It is impossible to build a great future without knowing its own history and tradition. That is why by revealing Uzbek ikat fabric story and spreading the knowledge all over the world, we are building a bright future together. Blending 70 percent silk and 30 percent cotton in an intricate weave, ikat fabrics feature motifs depicting Uzbek nature, customs and beliefs. Ikat fabrics are dyed using all natural dyes and a resist dyeing process. Tiny cotton pieces are fitted over threads before placing threads into the dye pot. Those spots resist the dye and give ikat fabric thread a singular nature. Our shop makes even more unique ikats by custom making them according to the precise vision of interior designers, fashion designers or anyone who loves beautiful fabric. Interior designers and fashion designers everywhere are making ikat fabric the same symbol of power and prestige it has long represented all over Central Asia. Though exotic, the soft fabric is comforting and warm. Since 2003, our shop has been the premier global supplier of ikat fabrics. From a traditional base in Uzbekistan, the company gives interior designers, fashion designers and furniture makers everywhere access to gorgeous traditional textiles known everywhere as masterworks of Central Asian art. Description:

The Art of designing of Uzbek fabrics is indeed an outstanding phenomenon of popular art. It combines high traditions of antiquity and vivid sense of modernity. Various plain and patterned handcrafted cotton, silk, semisilk fabrics of complex and simple textures were produced in Samarkand, Bukhara, Margilan, Kitab and others. The fabrics were used for making national traditional dresses and home decorations. The most famous were dense and woven of cotton and silk: piled velvet "bakhmals", repp, adras, bekasab, banoras. Methods of ornamentation of these fabrics were mainly in strip and pattern, the main features of which were indistinct with blurred contours. This method is called "abrbandi" in Central Asia, and the fabrics "abr". The main pattern-formatting importance of stripped and abr fabrics contains the foundation. Uzbek fabrics attract by the beauty of colors, pure and plain dyes. Of all the textile arts of Central Asia it is the abr velvet fabric called "Bahkmal" that you will probably find the most exciting. The brilliance in color and extraordinary pattern designs are reminiscent of modern painting. Many of the motifs originated from flowers, fruits, animals, household items and images that are in people's daily lives. The region of Alo Bakhmal is Bukhara, Uzbekistan. It is a pure silk handcrafted abr velvet fabric. Warp threads In Bakhmal pile were dyed using the ikat technique. The production of Alo Bakhmal was very expensive and only reach people could afford such a luxury - to own a chapan robe made of it. This wonderful fabric had been produced for several years in the late 19th century, after which the production stopped and the technique was lost. Only few samples of "bakhmal" were kept in museums after that. But in 2002 the old technique was restored in Marghilan, Uzbekistan. Size : 15,7 x 39,3 in/40 x 100 cm. Condition: excellent. Description:

Of all the textile arts of Central Asia it is the ikats that you will probably find the most exciting. The brilliance in color and extraordinary pattern designs are reminiscent of modern painting. Many of the motifs used originated from flowers, fruits, animals, household items and images that were seen in our people's daily lives. The single feature shared by all of these extraordinary pattern textiles is the dyeing process which is undertaken before the individual elements are arranged upon the loom. All ikat cloths have either their warps, their wefts or in rare cases both warps and wefts dyed only in selective areas and only before those threads have been placed upon the loom. The process of preventing the dyes from penetrating the entire warp or weft is known as 'reserving' or 'resist dyeing' and produces the essential characteristics of ikat cloth. At the points w the reserved areas meet the dyed sections, carefully controlled amounts of color merge with one another randomly creating subtle, slightly blurred patterns. The dyeing technique ensures that each 'cloud' is unique; each nebulous area of conjunction differs slightly from the others, and it is this aesthetic quality which suggests an analogy with clouds. The item is Uzbek silk-cotton ikat adras hand woven fabric. The pattern of the silk-cotton fabric is very old and it is composed of various blurred shapes. The panel originates from Margilan. The fabric is brilliant, bright and beautiful. Great item to touch the real handmade textile!!! Measurments : 14.5 x 39.3 in/37 x 100 cm. Condition: excellent.
